Hunter 30962 HEPA Tower Replacement filters for models 30730, 30713, 30730

The filter works great, no problem with that. It is just so expensive to replace and with two cats and a bunny and two kids with Asthma it should be replace every 4 or 5 months. I live in Canada and by the time I get the filter and pre filter it is almost $100.00. I read such good reviews about the Hunter tower I thought I should give it a try not realizing the cost to keep it going. Bottom line, product is great, too expensive.

I have had my Hunter Air Purifier for 2 1/2 years now and love it. It works great, is very quiet and I have not had one ounce of trouble with it so far. I do hate that I now have to order the filter replacements on-line vs. running in a store to pick one up. None of the stores in my area sell them anymore for some reason but, the HEPA filter only has to be replaced once a year and AMAZON is the cheapiest place I have found online to order one. It is a terrific product and I encourage any animal owner to have one. I have 4 indoor cats and you can NEVER smell their litter box anymore due the having the air purifier!

I bought this filter for a lot less money with Amazon.com than what the manufacturer was asking on their website. Great deal, because hepa filters are expensive to replace.

BAYFTFREXM2 Original Trane Replacement Filter (2 Pack).Furnace Air Filters

Furnace Air Filters

For retrofit kit model numbers that begin with BAYFTFR. Note: this will only fit models with the retrofit frame kit.

Product Features
  • Trane Perfect Fit Media Filters for Retrofit Frame Kit.
  • Original Perfect Fit Accordian type filters.
  • Approximately 27(L).
  • 2 filters per case.
  • High efficiency filter media collects small dust particles before they can collect on your coils.

I have no problem with the filter medium. It works great. I did not expect to have to assemble it into my existing filter frame. That was still no big deal. The problem was that the number of accordian folds in the filter did not match the filter frame that I had although they are both "Trane" and matching part numbers.
I just doubled some of the folds. The other problem is that the plastic clip which holds the filter medium in place on the filter frame did not match up exactly with the filter paper frame which should have some kind of metal reinforcement. This part of the design and the directions for assembly could be improved even if it added a little cost. It was still much cheaper than buying it locally from a HVAC dealer. I am about to buy them again and may have a beer or two before I begin the assembly process.
This is the exact same filter my Trane dealer installed when I got my new heating/cooling system. Easy to install.

"Buying two filters online and instaling them myself cut the cost by more than half to have the service people take care of it. Shippping was fast as well."    By Bruce Rhodes
"The 2-pack of filters came very fast (2 days from order to delivery) and the instructions on how to remove old filter and install new one are on each filter box. It's easy - took about 15 minutes all told, and this is the first time I did it. This was a very satisfying purchase." By careless whiz

"Comes with clear instructions on how to replace the filter. It's a 5 minutes job if you do it for the first time. Take your time to not break any plastic part because the box only contains the filter, no replacement for broken plastic parts."   By FrogThinker "manu"

How to Replace Your Furnace Air Filter .(Furnace Air Filters)

Furnace Air Filters
If you live in a home with furnace heat that you use regularly, or are getting set to use your heater throughout the winter, then one of your major home maintenance priorities is to make sure that your heater's filters are changed regularly. There is no reason to worry however; changing your furnace air filter is a quick and simple task that you can perform by yourself.
The general recommendation made by manufacturers is that you change furnace filters on a monthly basis. Your furnace manual should specify the recommended filter maintenance schedule if you are unsure of the frequency of recommended filter changes for your heater's model. When you are sure that it is time to change your filter, your next step is to read your instruction manual to make sure that you are following the proper sequence of actions to change the filter on your particular model. To help you, I have listed a general outline of the normal steps taken to change a furnace filter.
1. Using the electric switch supplied on your furnace, you need to disconnect the power, before you perform any furnace maintenance, including filter changes. If your heater is gas powered and not electric, you should also shut down your gas line connection.
2. Again referring to your specific model's manual, you need to locate and open the furnace blower door. Your reference manual should describe where it is and how to open the door on your furnace model.
3. Once the blower door is open, your furnace filter should be clearly visible. Simply slide out the filter to replace it with the new one. If you run into any problems or it seems to remove only with great difficulty, then I recommend you refer to your heater model's manual.
4. When you remove the furnace air filter, it should be easy to see if it does indeed need to be replaced. The purpose of a filter is to remove dirt and other particles from the air that flows through your heater system. If the filter is coated black, it is time to go. The condition of your filter should be obvious through simple visual inspection.
5. Your filter is not the only place where dirt collects however, especially if your filter is extremely clogged. Be sure to check for other accumulation in the blower itself, and in the venting system immediately surrounding your heater unit. Any obstruction of the furnace airway can cause not only inefficiency, but is also a major fire hazard.
6. After determining that the filter does need changed, and that no other obstructions exist, simple refer to your owner's manual, or to the description given on the old filter, so that you can get another filter from your local hardware store. Filters DO NOT usually interchange between models, so it is very important that you buy the correct one. If you have a washable furnace filter, remove it and wash all the dust out and replace the same way you removed it.
7. After purchase, simple replace the new filter into your furnace system in the exact same way that the old one came out. This is very important, as the filtration is unidirectional, meaning that the filter must be inserted so that the airflow is directed through it in the proper direction. Do not put your filter in backwards. Most filters are fiberglass, with one side that is slightly oily. This side usually faces the blower, and the other side collects the filtered material for disposal. If the texture (and of course your manual's description) does not give you an indication of the correct installation direction, then you might simple look at the filter itself. Most models will have printed arrows on them to show you which direction you should insert your filter.
8. When you are done, make sure that the blower door is securely closed, your power and gas connections are reactivated, and your thermostat is set at the appropriate temperature.

What You Need to Know About Your Furnace Air Filters.(Furnace Air Filters)

Furnace Air Filters

Replacing or cleaning furnace filters is a simple enough task, but do you know how your air system's filter really works to benefit you?
Furnace air filters are used in both heating and air conditioning units to maintain proper air flow and to collect and deposit any unwanted air particles that you do not in the air you breathe. Air filters help to control not only the airflow filtration, but also play a part in controlling temperature within and without the system itself, allowing for cost saving, efficient and safe use.
Now that you know what your furnace filtration system does, you need to also understand the importance of cleaning your furnace filters on a regular basis.
Furnace air filters are one of the simplest necessary household appliance maintenance jobs that you can undertake. Not only is it easy to do, but very important to the health and comfort in your family home. Your filters must be changed (or cleaned if not disposable) at least once a month. This is not optional, but mandatory for the proper performance of your heating or cooling system. Neglecting to do so, can cause several severe problems. One of these problems is that your furnace system may completely quit working due to filter blockage.
If a complete breakdown is not in order, a severely clogged furnace filter will at the very least discontinue its air filtering service and pass through all of the fumes, dirt, and irritants that it was supposed to filter out, possibly posing a health risk to yourself or even those you love.
Taking the 10 minutes it requires to replace dirty filters with clean ones monthly, has several benefits. It is not all doom and gloom. You can save anywhere from 5-10% on your monthly utility bills through proper maintenance. If you live where winter and cold are seasonal (or even year-round) regularities, then the amount of money you save increases considerably. Using an electrostatic furnace filter will save you even more money. This is because these filters use electrostatic technology, in other words static electricity, to attract dust particles in the air. This technology results in less stress on your furnace and thus lower utility bills. In addition this type of filter is washable which will save you money on disposable filters.
I cannot impress enough that maintaining a clean and clog free heater air filtration system is one of the best ways to lower your monthly utility bills, ensure fresh air in the home, and avoid respiratory health related issues.
Make sure that your furnace filters are free of any kinds of microscopic bugs, viruses, pollen, dust, mites, etc., which could get lodged within the net of the filters. This is especially important if you live in a crowded, polluted city. You should always check your filters at least once a month. If pollution, pollen, or urban dust are a big problems in your surrounding area, then a more frequent service schedule might be needed. If you are unsure, check. You can never clean your filtration system too often, and the dangers of neglect can be costly.
